“I firmly believe my mission in life is to constantly help others innately create excellence in their health and life. I know that, as a chiropractor, I am fulfilling my mission as I endeavor to positively touch the lives of everybody I come in contact with, helping to secure a healthy, drug-free future for generations to come.”
Dr. Jay Handt holds a special place in his heart for the importance of family chiropractic care. We know that the strength of our future is dependent on the health and quality of life of our children. Dr. Handt’s wife, Kathi, and their three children, Josh, Ryan, and Morgan, all receive regular wellness chiropractic care. His children have been adjusted since birth. Dr. Handt thinks family health is so important that he has established special family care plans to offset the rising costs of modern health care.
“I know that a chiropractor’s education forms the cornerstone of his care. Combined with the inborn healing ability of the body, modern chiropractic is bringing back the personal touch to the health care profession. For this reason, I attended one of the top chiropractic colleges in the nation. I continue my quest to better serve my patients by attending numerous post-graduate seminars, workshops, and training. I feel that on-going learning is essential to bringing together the mind, body, and spirit in the healing process.”
Doctor of Chiropractic, New York Chiropractic College, Old Westbury, NY
Member International Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, Dynamic Essentials Club, President’s Circle, N.Y.S. Chiropractic Association

Dr. Handt founded New York Chiropractic Life Center upon graduating in 1978, to fill the void left on the Upper West Side when the chiropractic college relocated its out-patient facility to Long Island. Dr. Handt, in his dedication to create and maintain a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship both with his patients and the community, opened his office. To this day he still cares for patients once seen by the college facility.
“I feel that learning is a never-ending process. While in active practice, I continue to keep on the cutting edge of developments in chiropractic wellness care, both learning from and teaching colleagues in the health field.”

I accomplish this by serving as a guest speaker, trainer, and lecturer for many groups and organizations.”

“My purpose is to serve the community with the safest, smartest, and most beneficial form of health care on the planet. To educate the community about the best doctor in the world, the one that resides within all of us. My Mission is to be the catalyst that allows the human body to connect to that inner wisdom (Innate Intelligence) so that it can function, perform, and heal at optimal levels through chiropractic.
I take pride that I was born into a Chiropractic family. A drug-free, vaccination free lifestyle allowed me to develop a naturally strong body. As a second-generation Chiropractor, I can share the many benefits of a Chiropractic lifestyle -vs- drugs and surgery.”

Outside of practice, I enjoy spending time with family, reading about financial literacy and entrepreneurship, traveling to and exploring new places, and lifting weights.

Originally from Long Island, NY and raised by my paternal grandparents, I was under an umbrella of the aging household and grew an appreciation for the aging process as a result.
As an experienced professional skilled in chiropractic technique & philosophy, I am driven to get people well by ensuring they are better connected through the chiropractic adjustment. I believe that every person should have access to chiropractic care throughout their lifetime. We have an innate force within us to express health, and chiropractic care allows for that expression at its highest potential. Chiropractic care is vital to an individual’s life force and healing; this is naturally what happens when human potential is unleashed with a gentle force to the spine!
My background in non-profit lends to my ability to listen with intention and great understanding. Having experienced many diverse spaces, I am passionate about human rights and the human experience.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and my amazing partner with whom I share this incredible profession. I love swimming, biking and competitive sports. I love to paint, craft, collect and explore new areas. Catching performances in the arts including musical theatre and concert shows of all genres is an area of passion and where my heart lands often. I also love opportunities to showcase my own creativity and artistic side. I welcome my community of the LGBTQIA+ to join me in a safe space as I provide care at the highest level.
